The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free tax preparation services to individuals and families with low incomes. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS. VITA operates January through April.
Project Connect helps facilitate and distribute free resources and supplies to families who are homeless or impoverished. Volunteers are needed mid-to-late January.
eams of volunteers go out to count the number of people experiencing homelessness in the area, and the data is used to determine federal funding allocations. Volunteers needed mid-to-late January.
Panel members tour and review United Way partner agency programs throughout the county and work closely as a team to develop investment recommendations for funding. CIP operates in March and April and requires a 10-15 hour committment.
A Community Impact program hosted by UWLC and Lancaster County Parks and Recreation. The garden is located near LCPR at 206 Plantation Road. Garden sites are provided free for participants to grow their own produce. Free seeds and plants are also provided for participants. Sponsorships and Donations for this project are welcomed.
Stamp Out Hunger is a community program hosted by UWLC, the U S Postal Service, and the local chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Volunteers are needed to sort and load donations of canned or boxed foods on a chosen Saturday in May.
Volunteers needed as UWLC ambassadors or to serve on event planning committes supporting the Bed Race, 5K, or fundraising events.
